  1. Mini movie buffs

With the Kidizoom VideoCam kids can record their own videos, take their own pictures and even edit their masterpieces. The hand held colourful camera boasts a 1.8 inch colour screen, internal memory, 4 x digital zoom and a resolution of 2.0 megapixels. You can insert an SD memory card into the camera, which also has connections to fit to the TV and PC. The savvy little machine also features face tracking technology, has built in games and allows wannabe directors to add borders and stamps to the movies and pictures they take. It’s sturdy and a perfect way to introduce little ones to grown up technology – plus it comes in pink or blue.

  1. Expert gamers

The PlayStation Vita is the latest hand held gaming console, set to hit the streets at the end of the year and early in 2012. It looks similar to the PlayStation Portable (PSP) but features an OLED touchscreen, two analogue sticks, a D-pad set of buttons that all PlayStation gamers are familiar with and loads more. It has a front and back VGA camera, Bluetooth connectivity, a built in GPS system and 3G support for surfing the internet and connecting with other gamers. It’s a definite must have for any avid gamer this year.

  1. Animal lovers

Dog lovers will adore the Puppy Tweets dog tag. This nifty device attaches to the collar and generates Tweets according to the dog’s behaviour – sending them wirelessly to their Twitter account via a USB dongle. You’ll be able to read their updates throughout the day, as well as modify the frequency of the updates. The tag is preloaded with more than 500 phrases that will describe what your dog is doing, such as: “I bark because I miss you. There I said it. Now hurry home.” This will keep you entertained for ages.

  1. Music makers

Wicked-cool guitars, drums, keyboards and more – all made with paper graphics that provide real sounding music for aspiring kid rockers. The instruments are made using circuit-embedding technology – when you touch the fret or strings image on your guitar, for instance, you can make real music that sounds amazing.  The lightweight instruments are battery powered, have a built-in speaker, come with a jack for headphones and can also be connected to amps for higher volume. You’ll be able to play real chords and songs with these innovative and affordable instruments.
